Daniel Trudeau otherwise known as Pregnant makes beautiful mutant pop songs that gives off
traces of The Residents’ most accessible material filtered through some electro and glitch
elements. To tell you the truth, we honestly are not sure how Dan makes all his badass music
but we know for sure that it is bad-ass and that everyone should hear it before they die or
at least collect retirement. He has a great way of using loops and mashing different things
one could never dream of doing like the Steely Dan/Steve Reich mash-up that is in this LP
which we have already tagged as a “future classic”. Yes! Treat yourself to this one and be
at awe at the musical gem that is “Ike Wimin.”

"Pregnant is called so because it is so: it is the audible rendering of the reflective,
kaleidoscopic ideas ceaselessly gestating in the mind of Daniel Trudeau. Two plus decades
of living amongst the legions of chattering old folks, teen-age juggalos, and ramshackle
junkies that fill the hill-lined recesses of Central Northeast California have led to a
weirdly acute understanding of the full spectrum of human expressive possibility. Pregnant
is the re-arranged refraction of this sensory input, a beautifully fucked-up tapestry
stitched together from scraps of dormant inklings and theories. “Liquidation On Swans”
is an immaculate conception, sonically birthed from the agile hands and emotions of Daniel,
his friends and collaborators, and the innate strangeness of the people who color our
everyday perception."
This cassette is definitely one of the better overall releases that has been submitted to us.
It's refreshingly buoyant, consistently interesting, and is guaranteed to be a favorite for
a large portion of our readers/listeners. I won't even weigh this down with comparisons or
try to place it in any particular genre. You're better off just reading the description above

Pregnant’s Regional Music, which drops this July on Lifes Blood Recordings, is a great EP: tracks grow
organically from roots-y loops or beats and are what I’d like to term, maybe unintentionally-pejoratively
so, as “hick-hop," but that’s an affectionate and loving pigeonhole: The beats are sick, the songs inventive
and addictive. I’m just getting clever with Highway 50 foothills meets rad riddims anologies” and failing miserably.
But forgive, please, and check Pregnant out. Now.

"The fourth LP from Pregnant is 'an ode to all the outsiders,' according to the erstwhile and wonderful Daniel Trudeau.
If you’ve heard his music or seen any image bearing his stamp of approval, you know he probably hasn’t developed his
music with the support of the local society pages. Nevertheless, Daniel has dedicated this album to others. His latest
offering is also his biggest musically – the production gives his bouncy poptronica a wide world to rove in, ranging from
endearing and happy to the downright danceable. If you already knew Pregnant, then Life Hard: I Try will seem like part
of a very natural progression; his signature loops and glitchy beats are all there, but now their self-assurance is complete
and the end result is perfection."
